7:00-8:45 Children arrive. Your own children may be getting ready for school or to begin the day. Some children need breakfast. After breakfast, infants are changed and put down to nap if needed. Children help with the clean-up and play with table toys, read books, or listen to story tapes until breakfast and clean-up are finished. School-age children leave for school.
8:45-9:30 Toddlers and preschool children select activities or join in a noisy group activity such as finger painting, water play, cooking or other craft making. As babies wake up, they are brought in to join the group activity. Children help clean up after play time. Snack is provided during this time as well.
10:00-10:30 Circle time: we do the calendar, read a story, sing songs and play a game.
10:30-11:30 Get ready to go outside: use the toilet, wash hands, change diapers, and so on. Outdoor play and /or walks.
11:30-11:45 Free play again-perhaps a special planned activity such as making and using play dough at the kitchen table.
LUNCH AND REST
11:30-11:45 Clean up and getting ready for lunch.
11:45-12:15 Lunch Family-style lunch and conversation. After lunch, older children help put food away and clean up. Hands are washed and diapers changed.
12:30-2:30 Everyone (except, perhaps, for a baby who just woke up) has a rest period. Kindergarten children who can’t sleep rest quietly on the mats with a activity such as books , a puzzle or a coloring. It is reasonable to expect children to rest or play in bed quietly for 30 to 40 minutes before they are allowed to get up and begin a quiet craft. As children wake up, diapers are changed and hands are washed. Cots are put away.
2:30-3:00 Children have a snack together followed by a story.
3:00-4:00 Free play: children play with toys
4:00-5:00 Get ready to go outside: use the toilet, wash hands, change diapers, and so on. Outdoor play. Children going home at staggered times.
